We've lost a friend: James Langergaard, 1971-2009
I have the regrettable task of reporting that one of our Expendable comrades - James (formerly of Hell’s Kitchen) - was struck and killed on August 14 while riding his bike. He was an avid cyclist and cycling advocate/activist.
And as Bob Dylan sez: “He was a friend of mine...”
Below is a photo we took with James less than a week before his death. He’s the one in the middle, holding (of course) his bike.
James was one of the few Expendables I knew even before I had this blog. He was a dedicated vegan with a kind and loyal heart, a curious and rebellious spirit, a clever sense of humor, and a sincere desire to learn and grow. He will be missed...
Here he is, reading the collective Expendable bio for me at Barnes & Noble, December 6, 2005:

Ralph Waldo Emerson sez: “Sorrow makes us all children again, destroys all differences of intellect. The wisest know nothing.”
P.S. Cars suck

Timely Reminder:
We have no control as to when, where, or how we end up here
We’re all living on borrowed time
There are no happy endings
So...what the hell are we waiting for?
