In case you're planning to buy some chocolate this weekend

  1. Hi Mickey…
Nice photo of the child. Child labor is a big issue. I recall seeing videos of children making rugs.  In the U$A we misuse children in many other ways.  Our culture of violence and the over-sexualization of almost everything benefits capitalism, but hurts kids.  I often am confronted by a citizen who places all of the blame for teen-age pregnancy on the kids. My view is that some of the responsibility falls on the rest of us - those who enable capitalism to exploit the young in many subtle ways.

  2. Yeah, the whole “teenage mothers” canard is a convenient distraction from things like global ecocide.

  3. Good evening Mickey and RMJ

Yes...and I see more articles titled; ‘are we losing our democracy’?

Now I’ve got to ask, what the hell are they talking about? We have people with enough money for 50 lifetimes, all the insurance they need, the benefits, the retirement plans and all kinds of dumb toys.

Then we have people starving without any benefits and many people being brutalized by the police. This is the history of america and some journalist asks the question, are we losing our democracy?

There is so much money for everyone to have all kinds of basics, even if our medical profession is incompetent, people can have insurance and not worry about their next meal.

The people with all the money are destroying all life on this planet while depriving the larger society from any human dignity.

What democracy? Democracy the the lie that implies silly gestures every 2-4 years, nothing changes except wealthy people get richer and poor people are neglected by their slightly wealthier neighbor.

The reference to Egypt; the revolution will not be an ‘evolution’ if military generals, with tinsel hanging from their shoulders are in charge, if another greedy, wealthy politician is in charge. Perhaps there will be a few more bread crumbs for the people. It would simply be easier if the wealth is distributed fairly, humanely, rationally. Does democracy not allow sanity?

Why do the deciders need to hate, to have a feeling of elitist, to have more, to have power over everyone and everything. This is all medieval and barbaric and we need to vote for the latest, greatest barbarian and their program of poison and slaughter?

We aren’t losing any damn democracy, we’re gaining a worst level of stupidity due to the illusions of participation in this absolutely insane, corrupt system.

  8. Good everning Everyone.  You know, I’m already fatigued with this word, ‘transparency’.

What the hell is transparency supposed to mean? Does it mean honesty? If it does, wouldn’t be easier to simply say honesty, especially since there’s one less syllable to pronounce. More people would understand, Perhaps.

This word, transparency has become too trendy, like vomiting after drinking too much shitty beer. The super wealthy of the u.s. have certainly been transparent about their hatred of poor people and all of life.

  9. Thanks for the links, MZ and subgenius. Ted Rall is one of my heroes. The further linked debate-ette on the nature of resistance (I can’t see it as merely non- vs. violent) is instructive.

So is this video of a Seattle cop gunning someone down 4 seconds after barking an order at him: That’s him walking across frame at the start. There was some bullshit inquiry held, but the killer walks free.

I bought no chocolate this weekend.
